Tour Information
This tour requires hiking in and through the Makauwahi Cave Reserve. In order to enter the cave, you must be able to crawl on all fours as the entrance is a natural outlet. This tour involves hiking and walking over uneven terrain. The Makauwahi Cave is open to the public. Our tour provides educated guides to offer one on one information on the cave and the reserve itself.
Forest Restoration
This tour provides the unique opportunity to help give back. Makauwahi Cave Reserve’s mission is to re-wild the landscape, ensuring the survival of native coastal plants and animals. A portion of the proceeds from your tour help to fund the reserve and its studies. You can also be a part of the re-foresting of Kauai by purchasing and planting a native Hawaiian plant during your tour! A plaque with your chosen dedication will be placed at the dig site.
Hang out with giant tortoises!
The Tortoise Ranch at the reserve will teach guests about animal species and endemic plants as well as how techniques of the future are helping preserve the past.
Freshwater Fishing
The calming effects of catch and release bass fishing at the Waita reservoir concludes this historic tour.

2020 Tour Rates
Drivers must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license. No minors under the age of 18 are allowed to be driven by anyone under the age of 25. Any guest within a party who wants to drive must bring a valid driver's license and a Visa/MC

- Sunblock/Bug Spray
- Closed-toe shoes suitable for hiking

- Helmet/Goggles
- Complimentary bandana
- Rental shorts and shirts
- Snacks and beverages
Leave Behind:
- Unprotected cameras and digital devices
- Anything that cannot get dirty, wet or lost
