THE WEATHER YOU CAN EXPECT ON KAUAI

If you’re planning a trip to Kauai, knowing the weather beforehand will play a huge role in determining your itinerary. Kauai is located in the tropics, so its weather is very warm and humid all year round. However, there are certain times of the year when the weather is a bit milder or more stormy. In this blog post, we will discuss the different seasons on Kauai and what kind of weather you can expect during each one!

Kauai’s Weather Season

As one of the oldest inhabited islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, Kauai has established two distinct seasons for its visitors and locals to enjoy.

Summer months (May to October) are seen as the “dry” season on Kauai, providing sunny days with low humidity and little rainfall that is split up by numerous trade winds blowing in throughout the day. On the contrary, the winter months (November to April) bring a heavier downfall of rain and moisture that gives the island a layer of lush greenery. While this may make outdoor activities a bit muddier, it also creates a beautiful natural contrast with the clear blue skies overhead.

However you choose to experience Kauai’s two different seasons, you’ll be sure to appreciate her beauty regardless of the time of year!

Kauai Temperatures

If you’re someone who loves the warm weather, then Kauai should be your go-to tropical paradise. With temperatures ranging from a cool 65F at night to a pleasant 80F – 85F in the daytime, Kauai is the perfect spot to feel comfortable and enjoy some fun in the sun. Moreover, if you’re looking for some reliable temperatures, unlike other areas with certain cold seasons, you won’t be disappointed. The year-round stable climate of Kauai allows for plenty of opportunities to take part in beach activities such as swimming and surfing throughout the whole year.

Kauai is also home to some very unique microclimates in its rainforests and cliffs, where things can get much cooler than average. Although, these places are very hard to reach as they are mostly far from entry points.

With an average ocean temperature of 77F – 83F, Kauai’s water temperature is also perfect for swimming year-round! While some beaches can get pretty crowded, you can easily enjoy a peaceful snorkeling session or find a secluded spot with miles of shoreline to settle on.

Rainfall On Kauai

With a wide range of elevations and exposure to trade winds, this particular island experiences a massive variation in precipitation. The average annual rainfall on the outer parts of Kauai is around 30-40 inches, but the inner core of the island sees far more. In these regions, it’s not unusual to find precipitation totaling up to an eye-popping 390 inches each year! Much of this water accumulates along steep mountain slopes, leading to numerous cascading waterfalls that adorn some of Kauai’s most beautiful valleys.
